A Jumble Of Excellent Feature Film Reviews

By Helene Mccoy

Until recently, if you wanted to watch a movie, a trip to a video store like blockbuster was your only option. Instead of buying or renting the dvd, people now can choose a movie download instead. Let's look at what you might find to watch using a movie download site.

The Dying Gaul: Mourning author of an autobiographical screenplay gets to be erotically intertwined with a smooth creator, who offers him 1,000,000 dollars to produce the venture as long as he makes the gay protagonists un-crooked. In the mean time, he gets to be spiritually intertwined with the creator's desolate spouse, a prior screenwriter turned stay-at-home mamma. Twirls, catastrophes, and fine behaviors mark this brilliant although thick personality research. Cast includes Patricia Clarkson, Campbell Scott, Peter Sarsgaard, Ryan .Miller, Robin Bartlett, Linda Emond, and Jason-Shane Scott. (101 minutes, 2005)

The All-American Boy: Jumbled tirade in reference to Olympic optimistic Voight's try to be successful as a boxer; striking locations of northern California, although that's all. Cast includes Jon Voight, Ned Glass, Anne Archer, and Carol Androsky. (104 minutes, 1989)

South of Heaven West of Hell: Normal Western plot line of redemption pits marshal Yoakam in a battle against his prior life among outlaws, led by Bible-toting patriarch Askew. Cast includes Dwight Yoakam, Vince Vaughn, Billy Bob Thornton, Bridget Fonda, Peter Fonda, Paul Reubens, Bud Cort, Bo Hopkins, Matt Clark, Noble Willingham, Scott Wilson, Luke Askew, Michael Jeter, Joe Ely, and Warren Zevon. (127 minutes, 2000)

Striptease: Erin Grant is a stripper at the Eager Beaver. She is trying to raise enough money to get her daughter back from her divorced jerk of a former husband. Things spin out of control for Erin when a corrupt congressman comes to the club and takes a liking to her.

I Wanna Hold Your Hand: Adolescents connive to get tickets for the Beatles' first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. If this primordial comedy appears infrequently stupid and pretentious, that's the cost it purchases being a commonly precise depiction of a loud occurrence. Comic Jordan is as humorously Sullivan as ever seen. Steven Spielberg was executive creator. Cast includes Nancy Allen, Bobby DiCicco, Marc McClure, Susan Kendall Newman, Wendie Sperber, and Can Jordan. (104 minutes, 1978)

Rocky V: Rocky has retired from boxing. A brain injury from his last fight makes continuing impossible. He becomes a trainer, and his first pupil, Tommy Gunn, leaves him because he won't move him up quick enough. After winning the title with another trainer, Tommy wants to fight Rocky to gain respect. Since Rocky isn't allowed in the ring, they will have to do it as a street fight.

Signs: A small family in Bucks County Pennsylvania has seen some strange goings on. There are crop circles in the fields. Things get much scarier when the see a strange being moving around outside the house. Just what is going on?

Edward: Trenchant if unnecessarily vicious adaptation of the Christopher Marlowe play, written in 1592, in reference to the demise of the frankly gay British queen who denies his empress for a man lover. Regardless of 14th century setting, some characters wear modern-day clothes, and film works relatively well as a condemnation of 20th century gay-slamming. Not for all tastes, however by no means boring. Lennox, previously of the Eurythmics, appears in one scene harmonizing Cole Porter's "Every Time We Affirm Farewell. Cast includes Steven Waddington, Kevin Collins, Andrew Tieman, John Lynch, Dudley Sutton, Tilda Swinton, Nigel Terry, and Annie Lennox. (91 minutes, 1991)

Muse Concert: Paper-slim although cute romantic comedy in reference to a cleaned-up '80s pop megastar (Permit) who's shown with a gigantic crack-getting to perform a primordial melody with a modern-day music megastar (Bennett) if he might only find a lyricist with whom he could work with. She appears in the doubtful individual of a ditzy lady who's assumed to take care of the plants in his N.Y.C. condo. Permit is at his best, throwing off a constant flow of ludicrous lines. (96 minutes, 2007)Cast includes Hugh Permit, Drew Barrymore, Brad Garrett, Kristen Johnston, Campbell Scott, and Haley Bennett.
