No More Steroids Drama, Baseball!

By Randy Greenway

Few times in my life have I witnessed a media story that's been as dragged out as this whole baseball steroids scandal. The latest in the saga involves David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez, who both allegedly tested positive for steroids a few years back while playing for the Red Sox.

I'm a big David Ortiz fan. He's done so much good for the Sox these past few years (think back to the 2004 playoffs), and now he's a part of this mess as well?! I actually don't really happen to care when you consider that just about every home run champ over the last 20 years has.

At this point it just seems commonplace. Think of the biggest names in baseball over the past 10 years. Barry Bonds. Manny Ramirez. Mark McGwire. Rafael Palmeiro. A-Rod. Canseco. It never ends. Bottom line is that if you hit a lot of HRs (unless your name is Ken Griffey Jr.), you probably used steroids or some kind of substance that improved your power hitting.

Ortiz at least struggled with the Twins and didn't seem to benefit from this cheating when it all started. Other players cashed in big time, with huge contracts piggybacking their performances.

Who can blame a guy whose career was about to fizzle out? Damn I just got laid off and am doing everything in my power to mentally enhance myself to get another job! Let's just hope he does the right thing and comes clean. It would be a shame for the nicest guy on the Sox to get a black eye from this steroid circus.

Then there's this whole list that they're holding back on us as if we're dogs looking for a treat. The players already "busted" for their steroid use have to hang their heads in shame while the rest of the baseball cheating world is protected by this list.

It's gotten old already and with each passing year, people will care less and less about this whole ordeal. It's time to just release it once and for all.

Sports fans like me need to rest our hat on something good for a damn change. As I mentioned in my last installment, thank goodness football is back. The only thing I need to worry about is if Brady and Pats will beat the Bills opening night by 3 or 4 TD's! Viva el Football!
