Dwyane "Flash" Wade Revealed

By Jeffrey Winters

One of the game's leading superstars, Dwyane Wade is now 27 years old. Born in January 1982, Wade is one of the game's best players, and has found a home in Miami with the Heat.

Wade has established himself as one of the more well-known and popular players in the league. He had the top selling jersey in the NBA for nearly two years, as he led the NBA in jersey sales from the 2005 NBA playoffs until the mid-point of the 2006-2007 season.

Wade was part of a very talented rookie class that included the likes of LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, and others, but Wade has never disappointed the Miami Heat. Right out of the gates, he became the team's leading scorer and was largely responsible for their first ever NBA title in 2006.

Aside from his contributions to the Miami Heat, Wade has been extremely loyal to his country, playing for the US basketball Olympic team twice. Once in 2004, and again in 2008. Wade was believed by many to be the team's most valuable player during the 2008 summer Olympics.

Wade is a unique guard in the sense that he can play both shooting guard and point guard. His versatility allows him to do this. He's one of the fastest ball handlers in the league as well.

Dwyane Wade had a phenomenal year in 2008-2009, as no one in the NBA averaged more points per game than he did. The Heat were also playoff bound this season.

Wade is an exceptional free throw shooter as well, typically averaging over 84% from the line, and has twice led the league in free throw attempts per 48 minutes. This is a major reason for his high scoring totals. His 6+ assists per game are impressive as well. Wade considers himself extremely religious, with a strong connection to the Christian faith.

Wade has a wife (Siohvaughn) and two young children, Dwyane Jr. and Zaire. His wife dates all the way back to his childhood.
